Settings – Alt Text

Overview

The Alt Text Generator panel allows you to automatically create descriptive and SEO-friendly “alt text” for your images, improving accessibility and search ranking. By using customizable templates with dynamic tags, you ensure that every image gets relevant alternative text—either on upload or in bulk for your entire media library.

Available Options

Alt Text Template

  • Description: Enter a template using the tags above to create consistent, informative alt text (e.g. {title} for {post_title} by CodingBunny.com).
    This template will be used for auto-generation.

Auto-generate Alt Text on Upload

  • Description: When enabled, new images will automatically receive alt text as soon as they are uploaded, based on your template.

Force Overwrite Existing Alt Text

  • Description: If enabled, the generator will overwrite existing alt texts for all processed images—even if they already have alt text.
  • Warning: This will replace current alt texts on all affected images.

Bulk Alt Text Generation

  • Description: Use the “Generate Alt Text” button to automatically add alt text to all images lacking it in your media library, applying the selected template.

Save Settings

  • Function: Click to apply your configuration and update plugin behavior.

Usage Flow

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin panel.
  2. Go to Image Optimizer → Optimize → Alt Text.
  3. Customize the Alt Text Template using available tags (e.g., {post_title}{filename}{site_title}).
  4. Enable Auto-generate Alt Text on Upload if you want alt text generated automatically for new images.
  5. (Optional) Enable Force Overwrite Existing Alt Text to replace all existing alt texts.
  6. Click Save Settings to store your configuration.
  7. Press Generate Alt Text to start bulk optimization for all images in the media library.
